Revolutionising Virtual Healthcare Conferences: A Live Events Platform for Lampyon

The Challenge

Lampyon set out to transform how virtual conferences and presentations are run inside the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. They needed a platform that would let organisers create and execute live events seamlessly, responding to the industry's growing demand for flexible, reliable, and user-friendly virtual event infrastructure. A key design goal was reach beyond healthcare: the platform had to be versatile enough to adapt to any online course, event, or conference.

On the engineering side, the requirements were demanding. Lampyon needed a sophisticated platform for managing live events, supporting live streaming, interactive sessions, and participant management tailored specifically to healthcare and pharmaceutical workflows. It also had to handle sensitive personal and clinical data safely and comply with industry-specific regulations. The core challenge was to design a secure, scalable architecture capable of managing high traffic and complex event workflows while maintaining a smooth experience for both organisers and participants.

The Solution

We delivered the platform with a focused team of a project manager, a senior backend developer, a junior full-stack developer, and a medior frontend developer. This lean but senior-led setup allowed us to move quickly while keeping architecture and security decisions under experienced hands.

Technologically, we built Lampyon on Laravel and JavaScript, a combination that provided a robust backend, clear data modelling, and the flexibility to craft a rich, interactive frontend experience. The platform's core is an event management engine where organisers can create new events, define session schedules, manage speakers and attendees, run live streams, and engage participants through interactive elements in real time.

Given the sensitivity of healthcare and pharma data, we paid particular attention to security and compliance. Data handling was hardened to meet industry expectations, access controls were tightened around participant information, and event workflows were designed to leave the audit trails that regulated organisations require. At the same time, we kept the product generic enough at its core that the same platform can comfortably host non-healthcare courses and conferences when needed.

The platform has successfully supported numerous virtual conferences, delivering an experience that organisers and participants alike describe as easy to use, visually polished, and comprehensive in its feature set. It enables seamless management of live events from initial setup through execution, and supports real-time interaction between participants and organisers throughout each session.
